Google Now (OK Google) is better than Cortana - sure Cortana is a work in progress, but so is everything that Google does. Today's technology is an ever-moving target. You can't play catch-up because you will always be behind. You need to leapfrog. Cortana needs to deliver that which Google can't or won't.

Saying Thank you makes it stop trying to talk to you. I find it much more acceptable than it saying that it didn't understand and reactivating the mic. If I'm really trying to be hands free, this works great, because it stops it from talking to me and I can still use OK Google when I actually need it.
